Arab Media Meets in Baghdad to Tackle Climate Change

Baghdad is getting ready to welcome the 4th Arab Media Congress, to take place from May 20 to 24, 2025, under the theme “The Role of Media in Facing Climate Change.” This major event is being organized by the Arab States Broadcasting Union in partnership with the Iraqi Media Network. For the first time, the congress is taking place outside Tunis, marking a new chapter for ASBU — and highlighting Iraq’s growing role in regional media affairs. More than 170 guests from across the Arab world and beyond are expected in Baghdad, with strong participation from local Iraqi media. Preparations are already underway, including setting up the technical infrastructure and coordinating efforts between different parties. The congress is being held under the official patronage of the Iraqi government.

The congress goes beyond just speeches and networking. It’s an opportunity for Arab media to unite in raising awareness about climate change. By exchanging ideas and working together on shared strategies, media organizations across the region aim to take a stronger role in spreading environmental knowledge and supporting sustainable policies. The congress is expected to result in clear recommendations and practical ideas to strengthen the media’s role in addressing climate change.
