On April 9–10, 2025, the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) headquarters hosted the workshop for the 8th edition of the Arab Joint TV Production, with participation from broadcasters in Tunisia, Algeria, Qatar, and Palestine.
This year’s theme, “Volunteering,” focuses on inspiring stories of individuals and groups involved in volunteer work, whether material or moral. Participating broadcasters will produce 13-minute documentaries highlighting impactful acts of volunteer service.
The workshop aimed to promote the culture of volunteering, shed light on powerful role models and raise awareness in Arab societies of the importance of active, community-oriented citizenship.
Producers and directors presented their documentary ideas, with expert Ghassan Qassem leading discussions on editorial guidelines, narrative structure, character development, filming techniques, music, and technical standards for production.
Constructive feedback was shared on each proposal, helping improve the content and artistic quality of the films. A timeline was agreed upon for filming, editing, and final delivery.
The expert supervisor will continue to mentor participants throughout the production process, from idea development and scripting to shooting and post-production.
Finally, it is worth reminding that the Arab Joint TV Production initiative, launched by ASBU, aims to enrich the program grids of member broadcasters, enhance Arab cooperation, and foster creativity through collaborative storytelling that reflects shared concerns and values across the Arab world.
