In the context of partnership and regional and international cooperation that the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) is committed to establishing and continuously enhancing with its regional and international partners and relevant professional organizations, ASBU has been selected as one of the international partners for the inaugural edition of the Global Media Peace Awards on CONFLICT PREVENTION AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION.
These awards are organized by the HEC Montreal Canada in collaboration with the Japanese organization Pale Blue Dot, reflecting their belief in the active role that media can play in our societies by contributing to the establishment of principles of peace and dialogue. The objective of these awards is to advocate for the values of peace, tolerance, and sustainable development by fostering a shift in mindsets and behaviors, while also backing initiatives dedicated to achieving global peace.
The competition is open to participants from radio stations, television networks, and digital media specialists. Entries can fall under categories such as documentary films, reports, dramatic documentaries, programs, or radio series, with topics revolving around conflict prevention and resolution.
In this context, ASBU issued a circular to its member radio and television corporations, urging them to participate in these competitions to support Arab representation in such international contests.
During the launch of these awards, Dr. Javad Mottaghi, Adjunct Professor, Department of International Business, at the HEC Montreal, emphasized the unprecedented challenges facing humanity today.
These challenges include natural and man-made conflicts, climate change, and environmental degradation, which result in significant suffering and pose serious risks to our planet.
Dr. Mottaghi stressed the urgent need to promote peace, tolerance, mutual understanding, and sustainable development by changing our thoughts, behaviors, and actions.
He also highlighted the crucial role that the media can play in shaping public opinion and contributing to the achievement of peace and sustainability, which represents the primary objective of the Global Media Peace Awards on CONFLICT PREVENTION AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION.
