ASBU covers for its Member Corporations the 80TH session of the UN General Assembly

A joint editorial and technical team from the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) provided television coverage for ASBU members  during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80), held in New York from 22 to 29 September 2025.

The session brought together hundreds of heads of state and government, senior officials, diplomats, and ministers from around the world, in addition to a large number of journalists and representatives of civil society organizations.

 

Live Coverage and Daily News Packages

In coordination with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU/Eurovision), ASBU provided live coverage of the addresses delivered by Arab heads of state, leaders, and senior officials before the United Nations General Assembly.

ASBU's team also produced and distributed 10 daily news packages featuring around 40 reports covering the Assembly's key events. These included high-level meetings, summits and conferences held alongside the General Assembly, daily summaries of the Assembly's proceedings, UN Security Council meetings on developments in the Middle East, as well as coverage of the high-level meetings and related events that preceded the General Debate.

 

281 Hours of Coverage

ASBU delivered a total of 97 hours and 15 minutes of live coverage of the UN General Assembly's General Debate via Digital TV, 56 hours and 15 minutes through Minus Plus, and 111 hours and 40 minutes on the ASBU Cloud platform.

The news packages accounted for an additional 6 hours of programming. Furthermore, live coverage of the speeches delivered by Arab leaders—or their representatives—was made available through the free news feed on ASBU Cloud, totaling 11 hours.

Overall, ASBU provided 281 hours of coverage of the proceedings of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, ensuring comprehensive media services for its member broadcasters.
