As part of ongoing efforts to boost cooperation in media training, a delegation from Italy’s national broadcaster RAI visited the ASBU Media Training Academy from April 7 to 9, 2025. The delegation included Irina V. Stoilova and Roberta Cecconi, senior international training advisors from RAI’s International Relations Department.
The visit included several working sessions with the Academy team, led by Dr. Ridha Najar, offering a valuable platform to discuss future cooperation in audiovisual training and experience exchange. Both sides expressed shared values and aligned training standards, agreeing to outline a framework plan for future collaboration.
RAI and ASBU share a longstanding partnership across various fields of broadcasting. RAI notably supported the Academy’s early development and has hosted several joint training sessions.
Recent examples of this collaboration include:
• A December 2022 international workshop on audiovisual archive digitization, with 6 ASBU trainees hosted by RAI.
• A November 2023 course on "The Podcast Revolution: Modern Strategies in Radio Broadcasting", welcoming 7 participants.
• An upcoming training in Rome, scheduled for May 20–21, 2025, focusing on public media strategies for children and youth programming.
This visit reaffirmed the strong ties between ASBU and RAI and opened new horizons for impactful training initiatives in the Arab and Mediterranean media landscape.
